Question: When I try to install the application using  Blackberry Desktop Manager I get the following message, "No Applications were found for your device."

Answer: This is a common problem with the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. There are a few possible solutions:

1
. Download and install the latest version of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and try to install the application again.

2. Download and install the application directly to your BlackBerry (OTA), see above.

3. If you already have a trial version or previous version installed on your BlackBerry, uninstall the application and delete it from the application list. To do this, start the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, click on "Application Loader", un-check the box next to the application, click on the "Next" button and follow the prompts. Now return to the application list, highlight the application and click on the Delete button. Reinstall the application.

4. Check if you are using Version 3.6 of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager ( Help > About Desktop Manager). The workaround for this issue is to install the latest service pack (Service Pack 3a) for Desktop Manager v3.6 instead of Service Pack. This can be downloaded from the BlackBerry site at: https://www.blackberry.com/SoftwareDownload/index.jsp?client=Ud4RBlehp
Choose "BlackBerry Desktop Software v3.6" from the drop-down list box, then click on the "Select" button. Choose the latest service pack at the bottom of the page.
Uninstall your original Desktop Manager first, then install the downloaded service pack. Be sure to reboot your computer after completing the installation. Follow the instructions to download the Desktop Manager service pack to your desktop computer.

5. Some users have reported the following work around...  Exit the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Change the name of the ALX file, for example, change "ApplicationName.ALX" to "ApplicationName1.ALX".  Then restart the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and try to install the application again.

Question: When I try to install the application using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, I get the following message  "There is an XML syntax error on line 1".
Answer: This happens when you select a file with a .cod extension. To install Ascendo Fitness using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, click on Application Loader, click on Add, select "All Files (*.*)" from the "Files of Type" drop-down list, then select "Fitness.alx".

Question: How do I uninstall an application from my BlackBerry?

Answer:  Start the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, select Application Loader, uncheck the box next to the application you want to uninstall, confirm deletion. To uninstall from your device select Settings > Options > Advanced Options > Applications > Delete. This exact menu choices may vary slightly depending on the version of the BlackBerry OS you are using.

Question: When I use the Blackberry application loader to install the program it gives me the message that the application can not be loaded because it has an invalid digital signature.
Answer: Some companies require third party applications to be digitally signed to run on your Blackberry.  Please check with your Blackberry or IT administrator to see if this policy can be removed on you device so that you can install the application.

Symbian

Question: How do I install the application on a Symbian phone such as the Nokia Series 60 or Sony Ericsson P900/P910?
Answer:

  1. Download the application from an Ascendo sales partner and use WinZip to extract files to a temporary directory on your hard drive.  Look for the appropriate file for your device, ie AscendoFitnessV2.jar & .jad for Nokia Series 60, AscendoFitnessV2_SEP900.jar and .jad for Sony Ericsson P900/P910.
  2. Start synchronization between your Symbian device and your PC using Bluetooth, Infrared or USB cable.
  3. If using Bluetooth or Infrared, then right click on the appropriate (.jar) file on your computer and choose “Transfer file to a nearby computer”.  If this option does not appear it probably means that you have not established a connection between your PC and your phone. Make sure that Infrared or Bluetooth is activated on both devices and in the case of Infrared, that the transmitters are properly aligned.  The application will appear in your message inbox as a text message.  Opening the message will install the application on you device.
  4. If using PC Suite, then start "Install Software".  Browse to the location of the appropriate AscendoFitness(.jar) file and select it.  Select and confirm target drive for installation.
  5. Go to the application manager and select the application.

Question: How can see the menu options for different screens on my Sony Ericsson P900/P910?
Answer: Click on the "Ascendo Fitness Calculators" menu option, on the the menu bar along the top of the screen.  A drop down list will give you the options for that screen.  The first option is assigned to the left soft key next to the navigational key pad and the second option is assigned to the right soft key next to the navigational keypad.

Question: How can I use PC Suite to install a java (JAR) file to my Symbian phone instead of the default SIS file?
Answer: You can find complete information about using PC Suite on www.nokia.com at the following link http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,,54690,00.html  Information on PC Suite for Sony Ericsson phones can be found at http://www.sonyericsson.com/ > click on tab for Support > search for "PC Suite".
