Question: When I try to install the application using the Blackberry Desktop Manager I get the following message, "No additional applications designed for your device were found."
Answer: This is a common issue with the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and does NOT necessarily mean that the application is incompatible with your handset. See below for possible resolutions.
  • Delete any previously installed versions of the software then make sure that you have removed the application from the BlackBerry Desktop Manager Application List, displayed when clicking on the Application Loader icon.
  • Verify that your .alx and .cod files are in the same directory and that you are selecting the .alx file when trying to install an application.
  • Upgrade your BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Click here for latest downloadable version.

An article with more detailed descriptions can be found on AllBlackBerry.com, click here for complete article.

If these suggestions to not resolve the issue, please try downloading and installing the application directly to your handset (OTA), as describe above.

Question: When I try to install the application using  Blackberry Desktop Manager I get the following message, "No Applications were found for your device."

Answer: This is a common problem with the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. There are a few possible solutions:

1
. Download and install the latest version of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and try to install the application again.

2. Download and install the application directly to your BlackBerry (OTA), see above.

3. If you already have a trial version or previous version installed on your BlackBerry, uninstall the application and delete it from the application list. To do this, start the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, click on "Application Loader", un-check the box next to the application, click on the "Next" button and follow the prompts. Now return to the application list, highlight the application and click on the Delete button. Reinstall the application.

4. Check if you are using Version 3.6 of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager ( Help > About Desktop Manager). The workaround for this issue is to install the latest service pack (Service Pack 3a) for Desktop Manager v3.6 instead of Service Pack. This can be downloaded from the BlackBerry site at: https://www.blackberry.com/SoftwareDownload/index.jsp?client=Ud4RBlehp
Choose "BlackBerry Desktop Software v3.6" from the drop-down list box, then click on the "Select" button. Choose the latest service pack at the bottom of the page.
Uninstall your original Desktop Manager first, then install the downloaded service pack. Be sure to reboot your computer after completing the installation. Follow the instructions to download the Desktop Manager service pack to your desktop computer.

5. Some users have reported the following work around...  Exit the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Change the name of the ALX file, for example, change "ApplicationName.ALX" to "ApplicationName1.ALX".  Then restart the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and try to install the application again.

Question: When I try to install the application using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, I get the following message  "There is an XML syntax error on line 1".
Answer: This happens when you select a file with a .cod extension. To install Ascendo Fitness using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, click on Application Loader, click on Add, select "All Files (*.*)" from the "Files of Type" drop-down list, then select "Fitness.alx".

Question: Does Ascendo Fitness work on the BlackBerry Storm?
Answer: Version 3.65 and above contains several enhancements for the BlackBerry Storm including clickable menus, screen-tilting and optimized graphics. The BlackBerry Operating System for the Storm has some known issues. See below for a list workarounds.
  • In some versions of the BlackBerry Storm OS, the "1" key is absent from the numeric keypad when displayed in portrait mode. To enter the number "1", tilt the screen to Landscape Mode before editing the field. When you edit the field, the "1" key should appear in the numeric keypad.
  • If the numbers and dates on the graph screens are too big, change the system font to something smaller by selecting Options > Screen/Keyboard from the BlackBerry home screen.

Question: Can I run the Ascendo Fitness Desktop on an Apple computer?
Answer: Ascendo Fitness Desktop does not run natively on MacOS at the current time. However, some users are running Ascendo Fitness Desktop on Apple computers in Windows sessions using virtualization software such as VMWare or Parallels Desktop for Mac.

Question: Once I've entered information into the application, how can I back it up and restore it if there is a problem?
Answer:
  • Connect your Blackberry to your PC using the data cable.
  • Start the Blackberry Desktop Manager.
  • Select Backup & Restore.
  • Select "Perform Selective Backup..." by pressing the "Advanced..." button.
  • Move the slider bar under "Handheld Databases" down to "AFitness" and "RMS Databases" and highlight these entries.
  • Click on Left Arrow button to backup Ascendo Fitness application data to your desktop.
  • If you lose the data on your Blackberry, you can restore it from your Desktop by highlighting AFitness and RMS Databases under, clicking on the Right Arrow.

Question: When I try to install Ascendo Fitness on my Blackberry, I get the following error message...

Question:  In some cases I cannot install a new version without deleting the older one from my device.  How do I uninstall an application from my BlackBerry?

Answer:  Start the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, select Application Loader, uncheck the box next to the application you want to uninstall, confirm deletion. To uninstall from your device select Settings > Options > Advanced Options > Applications > Delete. This exact menu choices may vary slightly depending on the version of the BlackBerry OS you are using.

Question: When I use the Blackberry application loader to install the program it gives me the message that the application can not be loaded because it has an invalid digital signature.
Answer: Some companies require third party applications to be digitally signed to run on your Blackberry.  Please check with your Blackberry or IT administrator to see if this policy can be removed on you device so that you can install the application.

Question: When I add a new nutrition type, what is the serving size for which I am entering nutrient values?
Answer: The serving size is 100 grams. If you are entering information from a food label and the serving size is given in a weight other than 100 grams, you will need to convert the nutrient values. For example, if the serving size on a label is 50 grams and the number of calories on the label is 125, then you would enter 250 calories which would be the number of calories in 100 grams of the nutrition type. We have created a spreadsheet to help you convert nutrient values. Click here to download.

Question: How do I add Serving Sizes like cups, teaspoon or ounce for a new nutrition type?
Answer: At the bottom of the form for adding New Nutrition Types (New Food), you will see two pairs of fields labeled "Grams Weight" and "Grams Weight Description". You should enter the name of the serving size in "Grams Weight Description", for example "cup", and the amount of grams that a cup of the nutrition type weighs in the field labeled "Grams Weight".

If you have entered nutrient values for 100 grams of the nutrition type, as explained above, then Ascendo Fitness will automatically convert those values for the new serving sizes. To select these serving sizes when creating a daily entry, highlight the serving value, clicking on the track wheel or track ball to display the context menu and select "Change Option".

Question: I created new nutrition types on the Fitness Desktop and tried to synchronize with my BlackBerry using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, but I don't see these new types on my BlackBerry. What could be the problem?
Answer: Please follow the instructions below to check if the synchronization Add-in for Ascendo Fitness has been activated.
  • Start the BlackBerry Desktop Manager on your PC.
  • Click on the Synchronization button.
  • Click on Configuration tab.
  • Click on "Configure Add-ins..." button.
  • Check off the box for Ascendo Fitness and click on OK.
  • Click on the Synchronize tab.
  • Check of the box for "Execute Add-in actions"
  • Click on the Synchronize now button.

Question: When I try to export nutrition, exercise and journal data via email, the file I receive is empty.  What could be the problem?
Answer: Some Wireless Carriers do not allow certain file types to be sent by email from 3rd party applications like Ascendo Fitness.  To circumvent this problem we have included the data in the body of the message in addition to the attachment (Version 2.77 and above). If you do not receive the attachment then cut and paste the data from the body of the email into NotePad or another text editor.  Save the file with a .CSV extension.  Then import the file into Excel.

Question: What formats are supported when exporting nutrition, exercise and journal data via email?
Answer: The attached file is in tab delimited text format.  The data in the email body is in CSV (Comma Separated Values) format. The commas in the Nutrition and Exercise name fields have been removed so that they will not be confused for field separators when importing the data.
